Andy,
I just helped a guy forging leaves with aluminum for a
gate and fence. The secrete is the correct heat. He
determined the heat by wiping it with a wooden stick.
When the stick made a mark it was ready to forge. Only
time for a few licks before it must be reheated.
BTW, you can expect to melt a few before settling
down.
