I've threaded plenty of grade 8. Not with a hand held die but still 
with *good* high speed steel dies (turret lathes, die heads, screw 
machines, Landis threaders etc.). Use some Rapid Tap. It works great.

If you don't want to try it cut the bolts to length and take them to 
your local machinist. It's not a big deal to cut a thread.
