Thank you all for for your input! I now have a variable resolution and am
much happier! I also had to manually install the sound card drivers too.....
is this the way the reinstall is designed to work.......loading only the
basics?
Thanks to all
Chris

Mr Snow nailed the problem right on. XP is using it's most basic video
driver because it did not find the one specific to your video card.
Assuming you are not using an 'add-in' video card there are 3 possible
integrated cards that this machine shipped with. Here's a download link to
the most common one.

aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R86399&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_CEL_2400&os=W
1&osl=en&deviceid=2441&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=3&formatcnt=1&fileid=113231
Alternately, you could browse the "Resources" CD that shipped with your
unit. (It may be separate or part of your XP CD but it is typically
labeled "Resources"). This CD will have ALL the Dimension 2400 drivers
that XP requires. The drivers will be located in subdirectories with self
descriptive names.
Feel free to email me if you need further assistance.
