Having dilegently read the collected wisdom of hundreds of blacksmith
years in regard to the profound but elusive question...
" which way should your anvil face?"..........Not to mention, "How high?"
I have now mounted my anvil ( no, not that way!) on a massive pneumatic
shaft that elevates and rotates in response to certain coded verbal
curses. (Hydraulics were much too slow as you might expect.)
Given this capability, it turns out that its possible to simply hold the
work and the hammer while cursing as rapidly as possible to perform
ordinary forging operations.
Unfortunately, the neighbors complained.......Pete F
