Probably not, depending how high you heat your forge. I wouldn't use it-
I'm very suspicious of any substances in my fire, than iron/steel, fuel, and
borax. I'm still learning, but there are several things that can poison your
fire, or you, and I'm not interested in playing with them.
If you need a forge grate, though, you can get the cast iron shower drains
at most hardware-type places fairly inexpensively, or do as I did and make a
pivoting biscuit that also serves the purpose of breaking up clinkers when I
use coal (as I've mentioned before, I normally use charcoal, but
occasionally use coal for fuel).
