I do it with a flypress. It works great. I bet a treadle hammer works 
nicely too.

A motorized hydraulic press would be severe overkill. I'd think you 
would have a good chance of distorting or stretching the collar. I 
originally thought the hydraulic press would be great for piercing 
hammer eyes. It turns out that the heat and scraping as the tool goes 
through is an excellent way to weld the tool to the head blank.
