[TheForge] OT (not really) -

Ron,
Thanks for the recommendations. I've been a Norton user since Windows 3.1
running on a 16MHz 286 was a power system. I have a complete Norton suite on
all of my company's computers, except my own. I recently went with McAfee
and actually like it better. In any event, you're absolutely right that
anybody running Windows (regardless of the browser) is at serious risk
without a good, current security suite.
As for the online virus scan, that's good advice too. The first thing many
viruses do is shut down your anti-virus protection, making an online scan a
prime candidate for recovery. McAfee offers a free online scan too but
neither should be considered a substitute for installing a complete security
suit. You need full-time protection and you absolutely have to run a good
firewall these days. Since you're a Norton user, you might consider
occasionally running the McAfee online scan, just to get a "second opinion".

Greetings,
If you are using Internet explorer or Netscape navigator, you are definately
at serious risk if you don't have a good anti-virus software on your
computer.
I strongly recommend Norton Anti-virus. They are #1 in the industry for good
reason. I have used it for several years.
If you want to check your machines for security flaws safely, you can go to:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&v
enid=sym
and get your system checked out online.
With regards,
Ron LeVine
