This isn't really OT as I think I got some bad advice here on the list.
There was a post suggesting that there was an Explorer flaw that had been
pointed out months ago that Microsoft had chosen to ignore. The gist was
that you were supposed to follow a link and test your browser. The test was
to click on the link, and if it opened a window, your browser was
vulnerable. I tried it. Using Explorer, the window popped up, using Netscape
and Firefox, I got a message that my system was secure. The problem is that
the link wasn't an Explorer test at all. It appears the link's purpose was
to infect your system with a form of the Exploit Trojan.
The funny thing is I detected the problem in the . . .\Mazilla\Firefox\ . .
folder. Not certain infection was the result of following the link using
Firefox but it would seem so. As I remember, the link was suggested by a
well meaning Mac fan but I think the advice may not have been so good.
