Good story, Steve.

None of the old timers I met in the US or Canada ever mentioned making
a scythe.  I do have a hand-forged scythe blade, however.  Wider than
the ones I've seen around all my life.  And I have a single stake tool
that looks to me like it was meant for shaping up the rib on the back
of a scythe blade.

Alldays & Onions is real proud of having been in business since 1600
and something.  Zeilinger has them beat by a hundred years or so.  Too
bad they shut down in 1968.

Interesting stuff.  Thanks for posting it.
