Yup, they do want to see you do it.  I one made a leaf bladed  socketed 
pike <spear> head at faire, because someone said it couldn't be done. The 
longer I took, and the more dangerous it looked, the bigger the crowd grew. 
Sold it before I finished it, but wasn't cost effective.
