For an anvil Laurel Machine and Foundry is milling a piece of railroad track
in to the anvil shape. The idea is to keep the working surface as low as
possible and let him get as close as he can.
He will never be able to do any heavy forge work and may well move into
repousse' and chasing. In the meantime we will continue to explore and let
you know how it works. I am collecting and filing your ideas, the things you
guys are batting around are real helpful.
Thanks,
Jim

I know a guy here in Florida who has(had?) a 1200# bridge anvil, but it's
way too low for this job. The legs could be extended, but we're talking
about a lot of weight, and there would probably be problems with stability,
but it's something to throw into the mix.
