Andy,

Phone your congressman.  The USA still has no legal requirement for
carrying ID.  They may SAY you need ID to get mail, but they don't get
to decide what ID is appropriate.  How would you EVER get mail at
somebody else's address (a perfectly legal thing to do) with nonsense
like this going on?

I bought a proportional divider on ebay.  Seller mails to me, I get 
notice that it's at the PO.  I go to pick up.  They ask for ID, I show

them my AZ license.  "no good, it doesn't show that you live at the 
address".  I show my NJ license... oops, has Mom's house as the
address. 
  I knew my CA license wouldn't work by that time.  I go home, get the

only piece of mail that connects me to Jersey City.  Not good enough.

Honest to God, it was ridiculous beyond any forgiveness.  I never had
to 
do this in Vancouver.  I showed up, gave the slip, got package, went on

my way.

Is it just the paranoid cowards that run the show in NY/NJ, or is this

nonsense sweeping the nation?

I'm disgusted.  Reasonable precautions against "terrorism" is one
thing, 
but this is not only beyond the pale, it's no longer even in the known

universe.  Welcome to Planet Bizarro.
