Another solution, or at least partial solution is to avoid IE at all.
Try Firefox
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
it is not susceptible to many of the failings of IE. I still keep the
shortcut to IE available for the few websites that require it (like MS
update) but I have selected Firefox as my default browser for 98% of web
