Here in Minnesota we used to get a drivers license that started with the
first letter of your last name and then 12 numbers. The numbers represented
you name and birth date with some code systems the state used to issue the
license.
They determined this system was too easy to break and made it too easy to
fake an ID or D/L so now they have a new system, the license number starts
with a random letter of the alphabet and 13 random numbers that dont mean
anything. Now tell me how a randon number would make it harder to fake than
a number that means something?
I bet who ever thought this up got a very large consulting fee, but then
they probably were related to someone with authority.
