I saw Peter Renzetti (SP), the Unknown Blacksmith, demonstrate a hammer
for repossee at the Regional conference at Pontiac, IL. He used a
variable speed motor from his lathe.
There is a video of it working for purchase from UMBA at
www.umbaonline.org for $7. I believe it is on RD42

  It is a 1/3 hp with a
substantial flywheel and clutch. It is built like a brick crapper and
the motor runs like a dream. Flywheel keeps things lively for about
three to four minutes after shutting off power. The joy of well built
machinery. I'll take it over contemporary crap any day.

So, what shall I contrive with this? A 2# power hammer? Ideas?
