Thanks to all who replied overwhelmingly that it was a bad idea to cut and
weld back together the 3 compartment restaurant sink into a two. The
middle compartment had a leak where a seam had come apart so I figured I'd
fix that anyway. Soon I had burned a hole in the dmn thing and then spent
quite awhile filling in the hole and now had about a quarter inch high bead
where the hole had been. So lots of grinding later I'm back with a sink
that holds water. Obviously I don't know shinolah about it, but I'm using
the same argon/CO2 mixture that I use for mild steel because when I went to
to dealer to get tri mix they told me that almost everyone in this area was
using the argon/CO2 on stainless and that it was cheaper, which sounded good
to me. It works great for burning holes in sinks!
Also, Ray, I love the 7024 but even I don't use it on thin stainless.
