[TheForge] Post Vise Craziness (utah hotels, screwjob, OT)

Reminds me when I got remarried a year and a half ago. We rented the
banquet room at the Wichita Shriners. One week before the wedding the
gal told me they needed the room for a big Shriners Holloween party and
offered me a way too small alternate room. I simply told her "I got a
deposit, I got a contract, I got a lawyer" and then I smiled. She went
up the food chain and I talked with some Shriner muckety-muck. The ended
up giving us the the entire Bar/Lounge area for free. All we had to pay
for was the food catering. So if you had a signed contract with that
reservation, especially if you've paid a deposit, I would talk with a
lawyer about a breach of contract lawsuit.

Speaking of screwy business deals and difficult people: the woman who
owns the place we were staying for a week and having our reception and
rehearsal dinner just got pissed off at me and cancelled our
reservation.

The wedding's in two weeks, 5 March.

Had the reservation for 6 months, yesterday she decides she wants a
$1000 deposit and an extra $200 for having the 35-person wedding party
voer for beers two nights running. I wanted to know if there were any
more surprises, and she decided that we had too much negative energy to
stay in her place, so she pulled the plug. Just before she blew us off
totally, she sent me this to explain her approach to business.

That was supposed to put my mind at ease.

I told the girl. You could forge-weld 3" square in the heat coming off
her right now.

So if you are ever in Utah, be very very careful of dealing with Julie
and Flanigans Villas (www.flanigansvillas.com). Flanigans, the sister
hotel, is ok. A little glitchy through this process, but they made it
good. Julie, well....

Twitchy. In my experience.
