[TheForge] Tongs from flat stock

I was out of town all last week. While catching up on my mail I realized
that I made a mistake on the original post. Charlie used 3/8 x 1 stock for
his tongs. Thanks for catching that. 3/4 x 1 is about the same as using
square stock.

1"x3/4" seems pretty big to me. I make a lot of tongs from 1/4"x1" and
3/8"x1". They handle almost all the stuff I do, except for hammers -- they
need special tongs. If I don't feel like making period-accurate tongs, 3/8
round or square with 1x1/4 for the boss, all stuck together with an arc
welder do real well.
