[TheForge] 3/4" X 1" for Tongs?

Phill,

At our last meeting Charlie Comstock demonstrated making split jaw tongs
from 3/4 x 1.  The advantage in this case was in the splitting.

In one of those reprinted BS'ing books from Lee
Valley, it was showing how to make tongs, and it
suggested using 3/4"X1".  They started out on the near
side (horn to the left of course) with the 1" up.  I
typically use 3/4" square for the majority of my
tongs.  Does anyone here use 3/4"X1" and what are the advantages?
