[TheForge] Cool kinematic web site

I've played with some of those "perfect" straight-line motions. You'd
better have some high-precision bearings on your erector set! One major
reason I selected the grasshopper straight-line motion for my treadle
hammer was that it has only two pivots (or arms) between the ram and the
frame. (Yes, there are also more distant linkages, but those are less
critical linkages.)

Peaucellier's (sp?) SLM was particularly appealing, but I figured it
would never fly! Or hammer for long, either.

Still, they're fun to play with.

It's one of the 4 link models; Watt linkage maybe? It's there, I saw
it.
<grin>

I'm going to revive and maybe upgrade my erector set so I can
experiment
with some of the linkages. One of the 8 link models is suposed to have

"perfect" one dimension movement.
