I don't know about Photoshop, I haven't used it though Deb has the pro 
version on her machine but I'd be surprised beyond belief if it wouldn't 
make "sketches" from photos. I have an ollllld version of CorelDraw 6 and it 
does it at the click of a button.

You set the detail level if you don't like the default, "Select" what you 
want and click. That's it. There are a bucket full of options available 
under this tool as well.

I haven't tried it with AutoCad but it'll do it too.
