[TheForge] Forge in Ireland (Was: Steel Storage)

WE just built a new forge at the local county museum. It
is a side draft with a firepot from SOFA. I works well and is a
pretty simple project. I can elaborate on how we did it if necessary.

No plans but a suggestion: make it side draft. Then you don't need a
firepot, just a stone or brick bed a bit below the level of the horizontal
air inlet. Pic here:

that may give some guidance in building or scavenging the metal part.
If you can't find a place where you can go and look at such a side draft
setup, I could probably manage to draw a (possibly inaccurate) diagram from
memory of how it works.

Well dang! My wood-burning kitchen range was made in Ireland. It's taken
almost a year to get a new grate for it into the pipeline and it's going to
cost an arm and a leg when it gets here. So you might take a run down to
Waterford and see if they're up for casting a firepot, side-draft nozzle and
water jacket or whatever other cast iron things you may decide you need.

BTW, will you be using coal or breeze -- pea coke?
