Oh I'm sincerely glad you called me on it, that wasn't what I intended to say.

I think "accomplished" fits the bill fine, as would: experienced, trained,
competent, worth a damn, etc. a person shouldn't be welding structural
anything if they're not at least competent, accomplished would be better.
<grin>

I haven't used much 6010 but have burned hundreds of lbs of 6011 and probably
a couple thousand lbs of 7018. I have the coreflux equivalent (I don't recall
the number) for my LN-25 wire feed. I don't know how much really, I don't
count or weigh rod, wire, etc. even when charging for it.

I have no gripe with mig (GMAW) you just have to know what you're doing, even
my little Hobart 120 Handler will make good welds on heavy stock. Takes a long
time with a 20% duty cycle at 100% power and many passes but it penetrates
just fine.

If you're not watching it'll cold lap a joint in a heartbeat. There are high
freq, spray arc migs that are pretty much point and shoot but you still have
to know what you're doing to do it well.

Once again, thanks Bill.
