Subject: [TheForge] Concrete forms

I spent way to much time yesterday looking for a source for some
peculiar ridge cap for a customer.
I traveled via telephone and Internet the length and breadth of this
country with short excursions across the borders.
No luck.
Normally I wouldn't bother any more, but this guy does a lot of this
sort of thing and it would be a nice income stream.

I did pound one out on a stake so it is an option. Although I doubt that
I could get what it would have to cost to make the project worth while.

This guy has a whole house done using the old ridge , but is ten pieces
short. Naturally his helper did not *start *installing them in the most
visible part of the roof, so I need to be consistent and pretty close to
the originals.

If I needed a large number it would be worth forging out a male and
female die set for my power hammer or press. From the stress marks on
the old ones that is how they were made. But again for ten it would not
be worth it.

Then I started considering a concrete female buck . Cheap, fast,
probably durable enough.

Any one have experience down this road, or thoughts?

Mike Graf
