The Beverly shear you saw was a B3 the hold down is intended to hold the
thicker stock (up to 3/16) that can be cut. I will send you a pic of one by
separate e-mail.

Subject: [TheForge] Beverly shear advice please

I have a #2 Beverly shear and saw one at a conference
with a roller ball on a short arm that held metal
being sheared, down flat to the table.
Seemed like a good idea. So when a roller ball of
about the right size came by, i got it.
Pulled the Beverly out and tried to figure out how the
ball was supposed to be mounted....scratched head.
The only solid, out of the way mounting site i could
see is on the top edge of the gear rack...not very darn
wide for perpendicular loading.
Looked on the web, saw pics of a #1 with a slot in the
blade mounting leaf to accomidate the roller...didn't
much like that solution structurally.
Anybody have any other ideas?
About this, i mean.
