I tried several things as strikers but decided on a
piece of mahogany about 2 1/2" around and 4" long with
an ash handle. Just using what I had around. I may try
the leather wrapping to see how it sounds.
My problem is finding the correct stand. I made a 4
post stand connected at the ends with 4 cross pieces
mortised into the uprights and 2 long skids on the
bottom. The top is 2 pieces of 2 X 6" cut with an
upward slope that looks somewhat Japanese. (I will be
glad to post a picture if anyone is interested.)
It still doesn't look quite right. If anyone has a
suggestion for a better design I would be greatly
appreciative.
Thanks, Lynn
