What is the purpose of a hammer with the pien at a ten degree angle
rather than straight or cross?"
I have never been a Wise Sage but have been called a Wise A**.
I was told that the diagonal peen on your hammer is indeed to make it easier.
If you stand at the anvil with your shoulders in line with the face with very
little motion you can use the peen of the hammer in two ways. One with the
peen perpendicular and the other parallel with the straight peen or cross peen
you have to shift your shoulders and feet and that moves your tong hand further
away also is less ergonomic and less efficient.
Time enough for sleep in the grave.
Tod Estes.
