[TheForge] guardrails and handrails

Roger,
In my area (Philadelphia and NJ) it varies between $50-75 or so per
linear foot, painted, installed. I bet you could find a guy or two or
three that might do it cheaper. No change for angled runs. We are
talking urban and suburban stairs rails and such. This would include
twisted pickets and basic machine bent scrolls, maybe some off the shelf
forged parts. Start adding in hand forged elements etc., get more
money. This will take some selling with samples for your average
customer whom I have found is generally interested but doesn't want to
spend the extra money. If you're starting with a call from a designer,
architect, builder who wants something more high end, bid according to
time and materials. Look in your local library for code manuals, they
should have them. If not, pursue inter-library loan if they have that
program in place. Good luck.

Regards,
Bill Woolley
