Thanks for the update Don,
Don't know why it took so long to register, but I'm familiar with sodium
bisulfite. Used it on a shrimp boat out of Bayou LaBatre, Al. Would shovel
it on the fish/shrimp with ice to keep it fresh. It bonds with oxygen and
there were stories of crew members suffocating in the airtite holds of the
newer boats (this was 'bout '80). Also used in restaurants, to whiten
potatoes, lettuce, etc. And in home brewing to sterilize implements and add
it to the fruit mash to inhibit wild yeasts. Can be right nasty stuff!
Kevin

-I suspect it might but I keep it outside. Thankfully, I have
-many empty cat
-litter containers with relatively tight fitting lids for stuff
-like that. I
-have become very attached to those empty cat litter buckets
-and keep such
-things as: All the jigs and forms for particular jobs in
-separate litter
-containers; infrequently used tongs, poised for duty; my
-chain hoist; small scrap
-steel, etc. This thanks to the fact my kids have, over recent
-years, dumped three
- cats on me.
-
-When i need to de-scale, I bring in the bucket and throw the
-pieces in it as
-I finish. The fumes are harsh. As soon as done I take it back
-outside. I also
- keep a 30 gal trash can of the stuff available for longer,
-larger pieces.
-Also outside the shop.
