If it was me, I'd get a high frequency generator and
hook it up to your arc welder.  As a matter of fact,
that's what I did.  I have a Lincoln Idealarc AC/DC
250 amp machine.  I found an old Lincoln High Freq
unit.  Look around, you should be able to find one for
a few hundred dollars.  You won't have to scratch
start it then, and it is harder than scratch starting
a damp 7018 arc electrode.
