B. Hemi-sphere w/ legs& long handle
Essentially just a bowl or pan with three legs and a handle. It has been
around, that I am aware of, since about the 14th century and is shown in some
Early English documents. Sometimes called a skillet in Europe but America seems
to have preferred spider. From its appearance, I guess. I have seen the bowls
as hemispheres, pans like a glue pot and pans like a frying pan with low
sides. I do a bowl. The bowl lends itself more to cooking porridges, soups,
stews, etc. Legs should be about 4" high for a good distance above hot coals and
an approx 14" handle.
