Spinning is a little like blacksmithing where the minimum tool list is
concerned. A heavy duty wood lathe will actually work better than a machine
lathe though a machine lathe is more verstile.

If you decide to go with spinning your own, you'll have a learning curve of
course but once mastered hemispheres will be a small part of what you can
make pay.
