I have to go along with "use the 11g" suggestion unless lighter is a must
have. You need a spinner. I'll ask on the metalspinning list and see if
someone has an 8" die.

Where are you?

Some length from Alaska...Phoenixville, PA.

The hemispheres form the bowls of reproduction colonial spiders and kettles
with three legs and a handle. Still much used by re-enactors, colonial home
owners, etc. Just right for cooking porridge and chili over an open fire. 11g
is way too heavy. Also, all the 11g come with a hole in the bottom. I have
tried Braun but so far no response. I'll try again. Beginning to look like
spinning would be the best solution.

I would prefer to buy them, distress slightly, forge the rest of the
components, and assemble. With a very light coating of peanut oil, bake at 375 and a
bit of BearTex treatment, they look pretty good. Hand beating them out, a
dozen at a time, is not an economically or physically viable solution. You
would think that something like this would not be that hard to come by but it is
shaping up as a real challenge.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Very much appreciated.
