There is a difference between the keyless chucks they put on $100 
cordless drills, which are largely made of plastic, and the albecht, or 
Rohm, which are cheap albrecht copies. These chucks are all steel, 
relatively precision, and I have never had one chew up a bit or loosen.
Check them out on the MSC website, or just for the hell of it, get them 
to send you a catalog- it is about as big as a NYC phone book, and will 
make a good doorstop if nothing else.
