Sounds like I was wrong- you do want Iron, as opposed to steel- good
luck. You can make your own- jewelers rolls, as previously mentioned,
can be used to roll narrow widths thinner- up to 4" or so, in most
cases. But many jewelers, who are used to rolling soft stuff like gold
and silver, might not want something hard like iron rolled thru.
Transformer cores are made in an almost pure iron- but I have never
heard of anybody who actually found out where to buy the stuff- it must
exist, but my guess is its all straight mill to factory sales, and no
distributors stock the stuff. And the mill probably wants a minimum
order of thousands of pounds.
In europe there are 2 or 3 brands of pure iron available, but none of
it, as far as I know, in sheet- only in bar stock.
I tend to work big- so my needs usually run to mulitple 4x8 sheets-
thats one reason I think of sheet metal first off.
