How thin are you looking for? Are you really looking for "iron"? You best
bet is to look for thin gauge transformer or motor lamination stock if
looking for nearly pure iron in thin gauges. Very thin gauges in iron get
expensive because it strength is such that the rolls in a rolling mill
flatten rather than roll the metal. That is why we have very thin aluminum
foil (0.00025 inch) but not a similar light gauge in iron. The thinnest
foil I have seen rolled was aluminum in 0.00010 inch for use in the Echo
Satellite in the early 60's. That was rolled by a special effort at the
Alcoa Davenport Foil Mill -- that plant has since been closed. Tin can also
be rolled very thin hence Tin Foil. Special mills with very small work
rolls can be used to roll very thin material in high strength metal -- but
the cost keeps going up the more special you get. (For example stainless
steel foil or shim stock.)
