Old-style horse drawn hay raker. Drop rake. Preceded side-delivery.
Replaced wooden hand rakes. Remotely resembles a racing sulky. Row
of big springy C-shaped teeth rakes up the hay, you hit the pedal at
just the right moment and the wheel motion lifts the rake teeth,
dropping the hay right in line with the last batch, thus forming
windrows.

Riding one of these behind a spirited (Read: happy to be pulling
something *light*) draught horse is one of the funnest things I've
ever done. Simple tastes, eh? You get an arial view of the field
mice, happy until a moment ago under the mown hay, running for their
lives.
