This is a good idea Bob and one I am sure you can make work. If I can get
my hands on a tape or DVD of a presentation that I also saw it really helps.
It even helps if the tape or DVD is not from the actual demo you saw but by
the same demonstrator. It really helps fill in the gaps of your notes. You
will also find that a hidden benefit to being an editor is that you pay a
lot better attention and take better notes when you watch a demo.
It is hard to get contributions but you have to keep asking and asking and
asking. Also I have found that when I get a good contribution if I can turn
that into a feature article and get the authors work and name on the cover
it really pays off in getting a second contribution from that author.
One other trick if you can pull it off is to have someone else proof read
your copy before you go to press. They will see things that go right by you
if you are the one who wrote it. My wife is a very good proof reader and I
would be dead without her going over our newsletter. (You know that for
sure if you read my emails which do not benefit from her proof reading.)
If you want to use anything from our newsletter I will be glad to send you
an electric copy. Makes reproduction much better than a photo copy.
