Had an incident like that down in my area- Sheriff gave him a choice- pay
the farmer for his goat, or go to jail all hunting week and pay the farmer
for his goat. Everyone there agreed that that was the finest example of a
Nubian cross they'd ever seen, worth $1000. The guy paid for the goat, since
there wasn't any court until next week, and it just so happened that the
bail was $5000 and the judge and the bail bondsman were out hunting
together. Seems this was an unofficial way to discourage idiots down our
way- had a lot of city folks coming down and doing stupid stuff. Any of them
that got caught paid dearly for all the rest who didn't get caught.
