I've tried many types of detterants. Beasts, particularly ones that operate
near humans, are not bothered for long by noise or light.
Best option. Get a Radio Shack infra red sensor. One of the indoor
eyeballs is good. Put it under the edge of a piece of wood so that it won't
get wet. Though they say they are for indoor use only, I have used them out
of doors for over 3 years. This will usually see a chicken sized animal at
about 15 feet. They will only false if it lightnings.
In my instance, the buzzer goes off, I look at the color of lamp
illuminated, and the color tells me what window to shoot out of<G>.

Subject: [TheForge] electric "firecracker"??? OT
Anyone know an electric or electronic device that would make a noise
comparable to a small firecracker? A friend wants something to scare deer
from his suburban house. The exact nature of the sound it makes is not real
important. (An electrified fence is out of the question.)
