Hello Dara, Look up ABANA on the web, and then find the books,
publications, T-shirts, and Video tapes, etc for sale.
There is a new publication out called the "Coal Forge Handbook". It is well
worth the money, and will give you options from a brake drum, all the way up
to a cement forge or side draft hood (metal fabed). I think it costs about
$15. Maybe if your not an ABANA member it might cost a few dollars more,
but it is an excellent reference on doing it yourself and following the
"proved over time" methods of many forge builders. It covers different
forge types and styles, wiring, blowers, airgates, hoods, etc. All the
things your looking to get answers to, and it is well illustrated and
compiled by Steven McGehee.
I'm looking at my copy now and the front cover has a little blerb on
it....... "Design and Construction details for permanent and portable forges
along with blowers, airgates, and other useful information".

Subject: [TheForge] building a coal forge
Hello All,
I am hoping to set up a small space to start doing some iron work. I am
working with a small budget and am trying to get the basics together. I
would be interested if anyone has any advice on building a coal forge. I've
been looking for information on the web and can't find much. If anyone
knows where I could find more info or has experience building a coal forge
I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Dara
