[TheForge] Choosing a tig welder

Justin,

IMO you pretty much can't go wrong with Miller or Lincoln. I think the
best advise is buy the best DC power supply you can afford. Also be
mindful of the duty cycle. Don't be fooled into buying a "tig" welder ,
although these companies package and appeal to folks who are looking for
one. I'm not saying these machines aren't worthwhile, just don't let it
limit you. I bought a Miller 304 CC (constant current) inverter,
single phase, 220V, 75 lbs. If I had it to do over again I would have
gone the extra $300-400 and bought the CC/CV machine so I could have run
Mig from it, big mistake not going for it. I don't know your budget
so... Buy it from a good distributor so you can try it, will get help
if it breaks, and get good info. I've found that dealers that carry
Miller usually don't carry Lincoln and vice versa. Take your time and
good luck.

Regards,
Bill Woolley
