[TheForge] Alternatives to Pure Iron

Pure iron disappeared and I'd like to see it back.
Roger Duncan passed away, and we haven't heard yet what his family
plans to do with the remaining stock of "double aught" iron.
Until one of these becomes available, what do we do.
Rumor has it that many appliences (washers, dryers) have 1008 or such
as the outer sheathing. You have to knock off the enamel. This would
be roughly 18 or 20 gauge material, I think.
I've come across some old railings - little things used for a few
steps, fabricated stuff imitaing wrought iron - that are apparently
fairly low carbon. Maybe 1010? This steel works very nicely.
Anyone have other ideas?
