"Shogun" was based on the book "The Needle Watcher", the story
of the first non-Japanese Samurai, Will Adams who also established
the Japanese navy (I'm sure the US Navy has no place in its heart
	for him:) ).

"Shogun" was OK, if inaccurate on many aspects of the culture,
but I thought the movie was terrible. Casting Richard Chamberlain
was perhaps the biggest mistake, at least for my money. I was
so unconvinced of his being a samurai.

I liked "The Last Samurai", though. I noticed only one egregiously
horrible breach of sword ettiquette and even that one may have been
OK, given the circumstances under which it occured. Otherwise it
	was very good.
