When I built the 40x60 Pole barn/shop/house. I made it a slab floor. Its
great for working on cars tractors and the like, and I use the floor as a huge
layout table. Just chalk up a full size drawing on the slab and go to work. Have
to keep the dog from erasing it. I only had a coal forge at the time so to use
it I had to hitch it to a tractor and move it outdoors. I found another pole
barn that no one wanted so I took it for parts and made a dirt floor shed 10
x 20 to be the Smithy. Put a scrapped window cross the forge from me it sure
comes in handy workin the long stuff. I have to do a little more walking but I
usually try to make all the hot formed work at one time and to heat the heads
and collars I use a rosebud and work on the concrete floor. Course I use
blocks to keep the hot stuff off the concrete.
Time enough for sleep in the grave.
Tod Estes.
