[TheForge] Survey: How high is your anvil.

Bruce,

Anvil working height of 32 to 33 inches catches most everything I have,
which is sheer coincidence, because much of the stuff that I use had the
working height set up by smiths of a generation or more back.

Your question got me thinking, so I just walked out and
measured my 25# Little giants. One was 32 1/2 inch from the floor to
the anvil. The other was 33 inches, which turned out to be the same
height as the welded up angle iron frame to anvil top, of my old
farrier 185 # anvil, and by coincidence also the same
height from the floor to top of my bench vice, of a welding
table that I made up in 1978.

Based on my old favorite anvil, When I was making a Mike Linn style
swage block stand, my goal was to get it so that the swage block had the
same 33 inch working height, no matter which surface was directed up.

My torso is / was bigger than my 6 foot father's, but my legs and arms are
slightly shorter in proportion. I am 5 ' 9"
