My Grandmother just passed away last month, and my Grandfather last year.
Both smoked and drank until the day they died. For the last 6 years my Gmom
had lung cancer. Did smoking kill her. In a way, yes. (She died of liver
cancer, surprisingly enough!) But I don't begrudge her the comfort she
received from smoking.

Is it hazardous to our health? Yup.
Have there been labels, laws, advertising campaigns, etc. telling us that
it is bad for us? Yup
Are we adults enough to make our own choices and live (and die) with the
consequences? We darn well should be!

If you don't wish to partake, don't. If someone you love/care for makes a
different choice, spend quality time with them since you are so sure you're
going to have less time with them. Enjoy them while they're here.

We never know when each of us is going to pass on.
