Yeah- look for another job, unless you have enough cash stashed and enough
cutbacks available to support yourself with NO income for at least 5 years.

Consulting can, eventually, make you a pretty good buck, if you're any good,
and you're disciplined enough to work hard at it until you build a rep. But
in the meantime, you still need to eat and keep a roof over your head, not
to mention be able to afford luxuries like phone service, utilities, and
such. If you aren't prepared to pay for these things over a long haul, then
you're going to fail no matter how good you are, because you'll need to be
able to maintain these things in order to look like a successful prospect
for a consultation.
