Work hardenable metals can be hardened with vibration. Place a speaker on
it's back and place the part to be hardened on the speaker face. Secure it
with tape, rubber bands, etc. so it stays put. Then play bassy music,
checking at regular intervals till it suits your needs.

If you over harden it, anneal and do it again. Keeping notes is important.
Different alloys take different lengths of time and probably prefer
different music.

A more sophisticated approach would be to test for the resonant frequency of
a particular material and duplicate it or the proper multiple/fraction(?)
for best effect.

A road trip in the trunk of a car on a gravel road will do the same thing
but is less controlled though more fun. <grin>
