I am curious about the physics of two different types of burners. The
burners that are in the
ABANA / Gunter forge have no adj. carb, the tube has no flare, but they
do have an oblique
angle of 135*.
Why does the one type need a flare (to burn correctly) and not the
other? One needs carbonation,
one not. I have been reading the burner book and have found (so far
anyway) no reference to these
bent tube burners.

Thanks All.

There is almost no reference to other types of burners in the book "Gas
Burners for Forges, Furnaces, & Kilns." Room was strictly limited by the need to
keep its price in bounds. A treatise on other burner designs would have at
least doubled its size. Also, people tend to feel overwhelmed by the amount of
information in it already, even though what is there has been kept to the bare
necessities for building good equipment. Perhaps someone will compile a
general survey of craft burners, and I will be happy to buy it. But, I would not
devote another three years to writing one.
